FAQ's

Why does my iPhone say "SOS", "No Service", or "Searching"?

If you see No Service or Searching in the status bar on your iPhone, your device isn't connected to a cellular network.

If you see SOS or "SOS only" in the status bar, this feature allows you to still make emergency calls when not connected to a cellular network.

SOS or "SOS only"

If you are seeing SOS or "SOS only" without any noticable cause such as:

  • This is not a new activation
  • Not activating a new phone on an exisitng number
  • Not installing a new/different SIM Card into the phone
  • You did not just factory reset the device

Your device is most likely unable to establish a cellular network but can still make emergency calls.

Try the following options to get connected to a cellular network:

Check Coverage in your Area

  • Make sure that you're in an area with cellular network coverage.
  • Turn your cellular data off and then back on again.
    • Locate and tap Settings.
    • Then tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
  • If you're traveling internationally, make sure that your device has data roaming on.
    • Locate and tap Settings.
    • Tap Cellular.
    • Tap Cellular Data Options. Then, tap Data Roaming.

Turn Airplane Mode On/Off

  • From the main screen, slide the screen down from the top.
  • Tap the "Airplane mode" icon to turn it on/off.

Restart your Phone
