How do I perform a Factory Data Reset on my device?

You may find the need to perform a Factory Data Reset in the event that your device is malfunctioning in ways that can't be fixed by more basic troubleshooting steps, such as rebooting the device, uninstalling apps that aren't working properly, or wiping the cache partition. A Factory Data Reset can also be performed if you want to restore your device to its default settings.

Performing a Factory Reset will permanently delete all user data on the smartphone or tablet. Be sure to back up your data before performing a Factory Reset.

  1. From the main screen, slide the screen up to display your apps.
  2. Locate and tap the "Settings" icon.
  3. Locate and tap "System."
  4. Tap "Reset options."
  5. Tap "Erase all data (factory reset)."
  6. A message will appear with a description of the data that will be erased. If you would like to proceed, tap "Erase all data."
  7. A warning message will appear. After you read it, tap "Erase all data" to continue. Your phone will begin the reset process. It will shut off and power back on automatically.
