How do I secure my folders?

To protect your files, you can set up and use Secure Folder for an extra layer of protection. Secure Folder comes pre-installed on your Galaxy and is based on the My Knox security platform, creating an encrypted, private space on your phone to keep your valuable and personal information secure. Please note that you will need to add or create a Samsung account to set up and use this feature.

Once you have signed in to your Samsung account follow these steps:

  1. From the main screen, slide the screen up.
  2. Locate and tap the "Settings" icon.
  3. Locate and tap "Biometrics and security" or "Security and privacy."
  4. Locate and tap "Secure Folder."
  5. I necessary, tap "Agree." Then, tap "Continue."
  6. Enter your Samsung account password and tap "Next."
    • Note: If you prefer, you can request that an email be sent to the email account associated with your Samsung account. That way, they will verify who you are.
  7. Tap the desired lock type for your Secure Folder and tap "Next."
  8. Enter the desired pattern, PIN, or password and tap "Continue."
  9. Enter your pattern, PIN, or password again and tap "Confirm." A shortcut icon to your Secure Folder will be added to your apps.
  10. To add files or additional apps to your Secure Folder, tap the "Add apps" or "Add files" icon and follow the prompts on your screen.
