How do I set up and use the Samsung SmartThings app?

To set up and use the Samsung SmartThings app (previously known as Samsung Connect), you will need to have the SmartThings app installed on your phone. If you agreed to install additional Samsung apps when setting up your phone, the SmartThings app will be located in your "Samsung" folder. If the app is not installed, you can download it from the Google Play Store or the galaxy Store. You will also need to have a Samsung SmartThings Hub (or a Samsung Connect Home) and a free Samsung account.

To set up Samsung SmartThings on your phone, follow these steps:

  1. From the main screen, slide the screen up.
  2. Tap the "Samsung" folder.
  3. Tap the "Smart-Things" icon.
  4. Tap "Start."
  5. Tap "Add device" on your screen.
  6. If your phone has already discovered your Hub via Wi-Fi, tap "Add Now." Otherwise, tap "Auto detect" at the bottom of your screen and choose the name of your Hub when it appears.
  7. If prompted, agree to the Terms and Conditions and tap "Next."
  8. Tap the name of your Wi-Fi network and enter the network password. Tap "Connect."
  9. When your Hub has completed the setup process via Wi-Fi, tap "Done."
  10. To add devices in the SmartThings app, tap "Add device" and follow the onscreen prompts.
